Basketball Tip-Off Planned for Friday

Wednesday, October 07, 2009

With the 2009-10 basketball season scheduled to begin on Nov. 2, the Lee Flames will give its fans a sneak preview of what’s to come on Friday (Oct. 9) at 6 p.m.

The action-packed event is called “Above the Rim” and features something for every basketball fan. The Flames will be divided for an inter-squad game to begin the “100-Minute Evening”. With the depth that coach Tommy Brown has assembled for this team, it should be a highly entertaining contest.

A slam-dunk contest is always a highlight of any showcase and high-jump champion Larrques Cunningham could bring something special to the competition.

In the finale, several of the former Flames will be returning to challenge the current Lee squad. Ex-Flames Brad Harris, Elmar Kuli-Zade and Cole Rose will headline those returning. They promise to give Brown’s squad a run for their money. Harris, a former Lee All-American, will be autographing one of his jerseys and giving it to a lucky fan after the game.

The 2009-10 Lady Flames’ basketball team will also be introduced. After the excitement has died down, the Flames plan a dinner for the former players who would like to attend.
